Brooklyn grew up with the railroad. Chicago & Northwestern served Brooklyn for 132 years from 1864 to 1996 when they were bought out by Union Pacific. Originally the depot in Brooklyn (torn down in 1965) was an old boxcar. In November of 1882 twenty-six men arrived on the train to build two buildings, and a depot was completed in 1883. The first agent was Graves , he also did telegraphs.
